On November 25, 2019, Researcher Jingfu Liu, the Jinshan Chair professor of Jiangsu University,delivered an academic report entitled ‘Research on the separation and determination of micro-nano plastics in the environment’ in the third lecture hall of the Conference Center. The report was hosted by Xiangyang Wu, Dean of the School of Environment and Safety Engineering. More than 120 teachers and students from the School of Environmentand Safety Engineering and the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering attended the report.
Micro-nano plastics are widespread worldwide, but the analysis is a worldwide problem. Through years of research, Prof. Liu has developed a variety of sensitive and efficient analytical methods with the help of cloud point extraction-Py-GC-MS, membrane separation-Py-GC-MS, flow field flow classification and surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). In the real sense, these methods have solved the analysis problem of micro-nano plastics. Besides, he also raised a number of frontier issues and challenges in the separation and determination of micro-nano plastics in the environment. During the whole lecture, Prof. Liu had a long-term interaction with the attending in a warm atmosphere. Both teachers and students benefited a lot from the report in the research of the environmental micro-nano plastics.
Jingfu Liu, a researcher and PhD supervisor at the State Key Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology, Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was employed as the Jinshan Chair Professor of Jiangsu University in November,2018. He focused on the environmental analytical chemistry and environmental pollution chemistry.The main research directions are analysis methods, environmental behaviors and effects of nanoparticles and persistent toxic pollutants. Prof. Liu is presiding over the National KeyResearch and Development Program "Nano Science and Technology", Key project of NSFC, Special Project of Instrument and Key Project of International Cooperation. So far, the number of published famous SCI papers in his field has been more than 220, such as Chem. Rev., Adv. Mater., ACS Nano., Environ. Sci.Technol., Anal. Chem. Etc, which were citedmore than 8000 times. Furthermore, he possesses one published monograph in Chinese and another in English, respectively, and has won the second prize of National Natural Science once. Now he is the co-editor of Chemical Speciation & Bioavailability.
