This research team is coordinated by Professor Daolin Du.
Research Scope:
1. Environment and ecology mechanism
We focus on the effects and action mechanisms of natural environment (including biological chemical and physical factors) on the individual organism, population, community, ecosystem and landscape from various levels and angles, in particular biological/ecological effects and environmental impact as well as its invasion mechanisms/prevention of alien invasive species; different compositions of wetlands and other ecosystems in response to global changes, and their mechanisms; the effects and action mechanism of industrialization and urbanization processes on different types of ecosystems and their functions.
2. Ecotoxicology and safety
POPs, environmental hormones, heavy metals, pesticides, fertilizers, acid rain, nitrogen deposition and other potential contaminants/various chemicals (such as ionic liquids, nanomaterials, etc.) which possibly discharge into the ecological environment; environmental and ecological behaviors/ mechanisms and ecological toxicology of various biological contaminants; explore the potential hazards and mechanisms as well as prevention/control of these contaminants on the organism and ecosystem health.
3. Ecological restoration and ecological civilization construction
Development and utilization of biological and ecological resources, particularly through environmental science and technology combined with modern biological and ecological engineering technology to study the biological applications in environmental governance and ecological environmental contaminants produced in the process of urbanization, such as refractory industrial organic wastewater, SO2 in the flue gas of coal-fired, NOx, solid waste, water contaminants, agricultural non-point source contaminants, further to focus on the restoration of the damaged ecosystems.
